2nd Annual General Assembly

Following a short welcome and introduction to the Members by Mr. A. Nathanael, Director of Trade-CCCI, Mr. Sotos Jacovides, President of CyABA informed the members of CyABA and the main CyABA activities for the period since the establishment of the association (March 1997) to Date (click here to read his speech).
The second part of the official meeting was an open discussion between the members. Finally, Mr. Clark Price, Economic and Commercial Officer, US Embassy in Cyprus officially informed the members that the US State Department will sponsor a Second Conference for this year in the lines of the first one “Doing Business with the US” on the subject of “High Tech”.
The First Part of the General Assembly was concluded with the election of a new Board of Directors which is comprised by the following members for the next two years active from 16/3/2000.

The Ceremonial part that followed was in the form of a Dinner Speech with key speaker the Minister of Finance Mr. Takis Clerides on the subject of “Government strategic vision for the next Decade” (click here to read his speech).
The Dinner was also addressed by H.E. the Ambassador of the US Mr. Donald Bandler, (click here to read his speech) who honoured Mr. Sotos Jacovides for his contribution as a president of CyABA, Mr. Vassilis Rologis President of the CCCI, who honoured all Board Members for their efforts and contribution to CyABA, and the President of the CyABA (March 1997 – March 2000) Mr. Sotos Jacovides (click here to read his speech). The Dinner was honoured with the presence of about 140 members and guests.

PLANNED ACTIVITIES |

Organise local activities in close co-operation with U.S. embassy and C.C.C.I.
Organise seminars to promote Cyprus - To promote Cyprus as a Business Centre. - Identify investment opportunities for U.S. firms in Cyprus.
Invite speakers - US Ambassador - Cypriot speakers - American speakers
Organise exhibitions of American goods and services in Cyprus
Organise luncheons / dinners between members
Educational programs - U.S. as a centre of study for Cypriot students.
